Utility Billing

The City is responsible for water and sewer billing services for customers including new and existing services as well as service termination requests.

The monthly billing cycle begins and ends on the 20th of each month.  Utility bills are mailed on the final business day of the month and are due in full on the 20th.

New Service

You can obtain an application for new utility services at City Hall or from this website (see above).  All applications must be delivered in person to City Hall.  You will be required to show valid photo ID and may be required to submit a deposit for services.

Moving or Cancelling Service

To transfer service to a new residence in Lafayette or to permanently cancel utility services, please contact City Hall at 503-864-2451.  Please provide 24 hour notice for a change in service.  You will need to provide a forwarding address to receive your final utility bill.

Terms of Service

The utility billing cycle begins on the 20th of each month when meters are read.  Your utility bill is mailed out on the last business day of the month.

  • Current charges are due by the 20th of each month and will be assessed a $5 late fee if not paid in full.
  • If a bill remains unpaid, a reminder notice will be mailed within a few days after the 20th. This notice will serve as a reminder your bill is due and will provide the date your service is subject to disconnection.
  • Before the disconnection date a 48-hour shut off notice will be provided as a last reminder to pay your bill. If you do not respond, a service fee will be assessed and your service will be discontinued. Payment of your utility bill in full, plus a $30 service fee, will be required before service is restored.
  • Services that have been discontinued due to non-payment will be charged the regular service fee if reconnected during the normal office hours. Services reconnected after normal office hours will be charged an after hours service fee of $75.00.
Payment Options

Online - The City of Lafayette is now offering an online bill pay service through Payment Service Network (PSN). This service allows you to pay your utility bill with a VISA, MasterCard, Discover card, debit card, or checking account. You have the option to make one-time or recurring monthly payments. Use the online bill-pay link to access the PSN website.

In Person - You can pay your utility bill in person at the City of Lafayette, located at 486 3rd Street (City Hall). Cash, check, and money order are accepted for payment of your bill.

Drop Box - The after-hours depository box is located at City Hall, 486 3rd Street, next to the front door. The payment drop is checked each morning at 8:00 am.  Please do not place cash in the drop box.

Mail - Utility payments can be mailed to the City of Lafayette, PO Box 55, Lafayette Oregon, 97127.  Please allow up to 5 business days for receipt of your payment by the City.

Phone - Please contact Payment Service Network at 1-877-885-7968 if you would like to make a payment over the phone.  You will need to have your utility account number available when calling.

Phone payments will no longer be accepted at City Hall.
