Community Service Award

The Mayor and Council want to recognize the community volunteers that show consistant dedication.  The award is for outstanding and noteworthy community service as a volunteer, who is not appointed, elected, nor compensated for their service.  A city form will be used to accept nominations from anyone on an on-going basis.  Residency in the City of Lafayette is not required for any nominee.  At any time the Mayor may nominate a meritorious candidate to the Council, which will determine each award recipient.  In determining outstanding community service, the Mayor and Council will consider the fallowing factors, including but not limited to:  length of dedicated and successful service; contributions to civic improvements or beatification; celebration and acknowledgement of Lafayette history; or overall contributions to enhance the quality-of-life in our community.  A non-cash gift award may be presented to the recipient, with any amount to be determined by the Mayor.  The Lafayette Community Service Award recipient will receive a personal plaque, and the recipient's name will be engraved on an additional plaque to be on a permanent display in City Hall.
